Reduction of degassing during offshore loading of crude oil in the Norwegian sector

  • 1. SINTEF/NHL (Norway)
  • 2. Statoil A/S (Norway)

Description

This paper deals with emission of hydrocarbon gas to the atmosphere from shuttle tankers loading crude oil at offshore fields in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Model tests which have been carried out, give relations between this emission and governing parameters. The emission has been measured during 9 offshore loadings. The variation of the magnitude of the emissions is discussed. The paper also includes conclusions and corrective actions implemented, as well as further work to reduce the emission
