Macroscopic description of normal quadrupole oscillation modes and the shape of rotating nuclei (ellipsoids)

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)

Description

A complete analysis of possible equilibrium ellipsoidal configurations and normal quadrupole oscillation modes is presented for rotating nuclei in framework of the Fermi-liquid drop model with account for the nucleon momentum distribution. An existence of the giant back-bending and of the shape isomers are predicted. The normal oscillation spectrum is substrantially more rich than in the standard liquid-drop model and includes branches corresponding to the giant quadrupole resonance splitted because of the rotation. The equilibrium conditions for the Fermi-liquid drop are different from those known in the usual hydrodynamics
