Description
Solid solution of (U0.1Th0.9)O2 with 40 at.% of RE (RE = Nd, Gd and Dy) confirmed formation of single FCC phase. Lattice parameters of ((U0.1Th0.9)1-y REy)O2-x decreases with increases in RE concentration and are in the order of Nd > Gd > Dy, Lattice parameters of mixed oxides heated in reduced atmosphere are higher than those obtained by heating in air. For given concentration of RE, oxidation of uranium is more in (U0.1Th0.9)O2 than in pure UO2. As concentration of RE element increases oxidation of uranium also increase, however total O/M decreases. (author)
