Biochemical indicators of radiation injury

Creators

Description

The term ''biochemical indicator of radiation injury'' refers to a substance found in body fluids (blood, urine), whose changes of concentration reflect metabolic changes occurring after total- or partial-body irradiation. Criteria employed in the selection of suitable biochemical indicators are discribed and a classification of biochemical indicators is put forward. It appears that the measurement of enzymatic activities in plasma or serum represents one of the most satisfactory approaches to this question. (author)
