Emergency core cooling device
Description
Object: To remove decay heat produced after a scram without subjecting the cooling system of a nuclear reactor to thermal shock. Structure: In the normal operation of the reactor, sodium passing through the low temperature section of a secondary cooling system is partly extracted and stored in a separately provided tank. The stored sodium is poured again into the low temperature section of the secondary cooling system when the cooling capacity thereof is lost. (Ikeda, J.)
