Description

In order to suppress the noise inherent in the image of dynamic neutron radiography, the morphological filtering technique was introduced. Basic operations such as opening and closing are explained, and some results obtained by operating them on the real image are shown. Opening is very useful for the suppression of isolated positive noise caused by other radiation such as gamma-rays. It maintains the details of the image and performs a faster operation than median filtering. Opening is also applicable to suppress the statistical fluctuation noise. (orig.)
