Description
Full text: In 540 MWe reactor, stepback feature is introduced to cause rapid power reduction. During stepback, reactor power rapidly drops to 65 % FP. This feature is in addition to the setback in which power is decreased at a predetermined rate till the setback signal clears or power reaches to a predetermined lower limit. Control rods are used to cause this rapid power reduction. As the insertion of control rods cause flux distortion, proper banking of these rods has been done to minimize the distortion caused by these rods. The present study estimates the required percentage insertion of control rods to cause the power reduction up to 65 % FP
