Description

The support flange of Beam Pipe will be subjected to neutron and gamma radiation over their ten years lifetime in BES III, which influences the mechanical properties of the material. G10 epoxy glass cloth laminated sheets, the candidate material was irradiated by a 60Co-source up to 104 Gy and in a reactor to a slow neutron fluence of 4.068 x 1018 m-2 (E=0.625eV) sequentially. The shear property was assessed. Moreover, the shear fractures were examined by SEM. The result of the shear test shows a minor reduction in the fracture shear strength caused by irradiation, but G10 can still well meet the requirement of BES III. (authors)
