Diagnostic value of bone scintigraphy in the complications of total replacement of the hip

  • 1. Orszagos Traumatologiai Intezet, Budapest (Hungary)

Description

Scintigraphy with bone-specific sup(99m)Tc-Sn-ethylenediphosphonate (phosphon) was performed in 27 patients before, and in case of complaints, after surgery as well. If infection was suspected, a study with sup(67)Ga citrate was also made. Completion of clinical, roentgenological and laboratory findings with an isotope study may help to decide whether complaints are due to the loosening of the prosthesis or to infection. (author)
