Measurement of partial radiation widths of high energy transitions from keV capture resonances in 56Fe and 58'60Ni

Description
High energy γ-ray transitions to low-lying states following neutron capture in 56Fe and 58'60Ni have been investigated for individual resonances in the neutron energy range 7-70 keV using a 50 cc Ge(Li)-detector. Partial radiation widths for s- and 1 > 0 wave resonance in 58Ni at 47.8 keV a spin of 3/2 was derived. The γ-ray strength for M1 transitions was found to be (21 +- 17) x 10-9 and (16 +- 7) x 10-9 MeV-3 for 56Fe and 58Ni, respectively. The partial radiation widths of the studied s-wave resonances were compared with valence model calculations. (orig.)

Hochenergie-Gammauebergaenge zu tiefliegenden Zustaenden nach Neutroneneinfang in 56Fe und 58'60Ni wurden fuer einzelne Resonanzen im Neutronenenergiebereich 7-70 keV mit einem 50 cc Ge(Li)-Detektor untersucht. Fuer s- und 1 > 0 Wellenresonanzen wurden Teilstrahlungsbreiten bestimmt. Die γ-Staerke der M1-Uebergaenge lag bei (21 +- 17) x 10-9 fuer 56Fe bzw. 58Ni. Die Teilstrahlungsbreiten der untersuchten S-Wellenresonanzen wurden mit Valenzmodellrechnungen verglichen. (orig.)Additional details
