Description

This set of articles outlines that wood-energy (the first renewable energy in France) will have a major role to play in the decarbonization of heat production (for individual and collective heating and for industrial needs). It discusses the new European requirements of the Red II directive regarding the principle of sustainability of bio-energies, and the notion of preservation of the forest as a resource to be preserved as an important carbon sink. It also presents the examples of the Caen University and of an eco-district in Bussy-Saint-Georges which have decided to choose a biomass-fired boiler. It outlines the need to develop knowledge and to collect data in order to better adapt forests to climate change
