Efficiency of production of thermal radiation from homogeneous heavy-ion-heated targets

Description
The dependence of conversion efficiency η in cylindrical heavy-ion-heated targets is explored through numerical simulation of radiation transport and hydrodynamics. We find a scaling variable which allows a simple estimate for η over a wide range of beam power, radius, and target density. (orig.)
