Feasibility of measurement of the electromagnetic polarizability of the bound nucleon

Description
It is shown that the differential cross section for Compton scattering of 25--100 MeV photons on Pb through θ = 300 is very sensitive to the polarizability of the bound nucleon. A first experiment led to 1.2/sub -0.3//sup +0.4/ times the free-nucleon value
