Peripheral blood changes in Eleutherococcus - pretreated mice exposed to acute gamma radiation
- 1. Meditsinska Akademiya, Sofia (Bulgaria). Katedra po Rentgenologiya i Radiologiya
Description
Data of the effects of Eleutherococcus upon the repair capabilities of the organism are presented. Male strain H mice were treated daily with subcutaneous 0.1 ml injections of Extractum Eleutherococci for 14 days before 3 Gy gamma irradiation. The effect of extract on the course of radiation disease was examined at certain intervals from the 24th hour until the 30th postirradiation day by leukocyte count with the total nucleic acid level of the leukocytes serving as indicator. The contribution of the induced adaptation on the observed changes of the reactivity of the body are discussed
