Magnetic shielding studies on the alkali molecules Na2 and Cs2 by NMR

Description
NMR in the alkali molecules Na2 and Cs2 is performed by the atom-molecule exchange optical pumping method. The shielding differences sigma(Na) - sigma(Na2) = (29 +- 16) x 10-6 and sigma(Cs) - sigma(Cs2) = (221 +- 12) x 10-6 are obtained. The investigation of the contribution of the valence electron to the magnetic shielding is supported by a NMR experiment in free Cs+ ions, which yields the shielding difference sigma(Cs) - sigma(Cs+) = (14 +- 12) x 10-6. These measurements allow an estimation of the spin rotation interaction constant in these molecules. (orig.)

NMR-Messungen an den Alkali-Molekuelen Na2 und Cs2 werden mit Hilfe der Atom-Molekuelaustausch-Methode durch optisches Pumpen durchgefuehrt. Es ergeben sich Shielding-Differenzen von sigma(Na) - sigma(Na2) = (29 +- 16) x 10-6. Der Beitrag des Valenzelektrons zur Chemical-Shift wird durch ein NMR-Experiment an freien Cs+ Ionen untersucht und fuehrt zu einem Differenzwert von sigma(Cs) - sigma(Cs+) = (14 +- 12) x 10-6. Diese Messungen erlauben eine Abschaetzung fuer die Wechselwirkungskonstante der Spin-Rotation in diesen Molekuelen. (orig.)Additional details
