Phase diagrams of the systems FeF2-LnF3 (Ln=Nd, Gd, Ho, Lu)

Description
Methods of DTA, X-ray phase, crystallooptical analyses and Moessbauer spectroscopy were applied to study interaction in FeF2-LnF3 systems. Systems of eutectic type with boundary solid solutions on the basis of initial components are studied. Nonvariant equilibrium takes place in the system with GdF3. Incongruently melting compound of approximate composition of FeLuF5 is found by DTA data in FeF2-LuF3 system. Compositions of eutectics in nonstudied FeF2-LnF3 systems are predicted on the basis of the results of investigations into MnF2-LnF3 systems
