Investigations of the A dependence of inelastic electron and muon nuclear scattering

Experiments on the A dependence of the photoabsorption processes of real and virtual photons are discussed with emphasis on experiments with the charged leptons. The results from the inelastic electron and muon measurements obtained from the Cornell and from the C-R-H-FNAL muon experiments are compared with some of the photoproduction results. Also a comparison of the A dependence of Asub(eff)/A from the Cornell, UCSB and SLAC (40) experiments is presented. This result is highly interesting, since it is not presently understood what mechanism could be responsible for changing the shadowing so dramatically in such a small range of the invariant mass of the virtual photon.
