Activity and interaction of galaxies
Description
Activity phenomena of radiogalaxies, galactic jets, quasars and infrared galaxies are described. Assumptions are made in order to interpret these phenomena. In this frame the gravitational interaction of galaxies is of special interest. From computerized simulations and comparative observations it can be concluded that all essential properties of interacting and colliding galaxies go back to gravitation alone. On the other hand there are distinct references that the activity of galaxies is produced by interaction with neighbours. In this frame results of Infrared Astronomy Satellite (IRAS) observations of infrared galaxies are discussed
