Description

Fe-1.0 wt% Si alloy was treated during bulk solidification under different transverse weak magnetic fields of 0, 0.3 and 0.6 T. The effect of the transverse weak magnetic field on texture evolution and magnetic property of the alloy was investigated. It can be found that with an increase in the magnetic field intensity from 0 to 0.6 T, the texture evolution experiences a transformation from 〈111〉 to 〈110〉 to 〈100〉. It indicates that the unfavorable γ texture is gradually eliminated, which will induce a strong {100} texture and then an excellent magnetic property. These phenomena should be attributed to the change in crystal orientation caused by magnetic field. (paper)
