Construction of a power supply unit for Nd-YAG pulse laser (300 mJ-7ns)/pulse
- 1. Atomic Energy Commission, Damascus (Syrian Arab Republic), Dept. of Physics
Description
In This work, an electronic laser power supply was designed and constructed. It delivers electrical pulses for the flash lamp of Nd-YAG lasers, and the pulses needed for the Q-switch Pockels cell. The pulse frequency can be changed from 1 to 10 Hz. The output power is variable so the user can choose the appropriate laser power. The unit can be triggered for synchronization purposes by external pulses with a variable delay (10μs to 1s) between the trigger and the laser pulse. The output laser pulse has been characterized and its power was 300 mJ and its duration was 7 ns. All the electronic circuits were simulated on computers using PS pice in order to reach the best design. Microprocessors are used in input, control and display circuits. A special care was taken to have stable, robust and immune circuits. (Author)
