Cross-section and polarization in the photodisintegration of the deuteron with arbitrary number of electromagnetic multipoles

By employing the expressions for the electric- and magnetic-multipole interaction energy between the radiation field and nucleons as derived in the paper by Breit and Rustgi, and adopting the general precedure of a previous paper by Rustgi, Zernik, Breit and Andrews, simple expressions for the transition amplitudes of the reaction 2H(γ, n)1H have been derived for all electromagnetic multipoles in the nonretarded approximation. The final-state interaction of the outgoing neutron and proton is taken into account. (author)
