Monte Carlo methods. Nuclear radiation transport simulation for protection studies

Description

Protection against nuclear weapon radiations requires the evaluation of the received dose at a point, inside absorbing structures. This can be simulated by three dimensional Monte Carlo type calculation methods. These simulations should be established with 10 sup 15 to 10 sup 18 particles. As present computers can only achieve them with a few 100000 particles, bias techniques are required. Some of them are explained: russian roulette, fission, source, weight function, exponential transformation. Appropriate choices of these bias results in Morse and VCS codes.
