On the influence of electronic structure of metals on specific features of their mechanical properties

Description

A consideration is given to correlations between mechanical properties of metals and their internal structure that is represented as a system of positive ions in sites of crystal lattices and 'Fermi-gas' consisting of conduction electrons. Interactions of crystal defects, dislocations in particular, witn crystal electric field is discussed. An attempt is made to elucidate reasons for metal athermal plasticity and other mechanical properties on the basis of modern theory of solids electronic structure
