Dosimetric characterization of a collimator micromultileaf

Description

Micromultileaf collimators (MMLC) fields allow the use of highly compliant, with a spatial resolution superior to that achieved with multi leaf collimators installed in the accelerator head. This is especially indicated for the treatment of small volumes in techniques such as stereotactic radiosurgery. In this study we present the basic dosimetric characteristics of a model of MMLC built into the head of an accelerator, such as factors of field, shadows, accurate field size and transmission/leakage, for implementation in a program planner and use in stereotactic radiosurgery treatments made and fixed field.
