Description

In France, electricity generated by nuclear power plants represented 70% of the national production in 1989. As of 1 January 1990, 34 PWR units of the 900 MWe class and 15 of the 1300 MWe class were connected to the French grid. Five 1300 MWe class units and two of the new 1450 MWe 'N4' class were still under construction. France exports about 10% of EDF's electrical production. For the construction of the Daya Bay nuclear power plant, French knowhow has been made available to the future owner such that French experience in the fields of industrial architecture, the nuclear steam supply system, the heavy components, civil works structures and equipment, plant operation and maintenance, and personnel training could be transmitted to the Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company
