Elimination of truncation artifacts in magnetic resonance imaging

Description
A new elimination technique of truncation artifacts in MR image is presented. Truncation artifacts, so called ringing artifacts, are caused by the finite sampling in K space due to limitation of frequency bandwidth in actual physical data. To eliminate them, we have used the artifact model of an edge and subtracted actual elimination from artifact. With applications of this method to phantom and human head images, we have been able to illustrate efficiency of the proposed method for elimination of truncation artifacts. (author)
