Some important aspects of the application of hydrogen water chemistry in BWRs
Description
Hydrogen water chemistry (HWC) has been successfully used for 10 years in order to mitigate the risk for IGSCC in BWR (Boiling Water Reactor) water systems. The required hydrogen addition rate to attain a sufficiently reducing environment has been differing widely for various plants. Several physical and chemical parameters have been found controlling the required hydrogen addition rate. Among the more important are the copper concentration in the reactor water, the power and core flow dependence and the effects of uneven distribution of hydrogen in the downcomer. (author)
