Analysis on skyshine in a certain engineering project

Description
Strong γ radiation arising from an open radiation area or a radioactive room with a thin slab can be reflected by atmosphere and then increase radiation field around the outside ground. This skyshine problem should be given attention in radwaste storage facility or radwaste processing plant design. Focused on the gamma ray skyshine problem in a certain high radwaste storage facility in NPP, relevant research was developed on analysis method and protection measure to solve the shyshine problem. In the analysis research of skyshine problem, kernel point integral method and Monte Carlo method were used to develop merits and faults analysis. Radiation effect on workers outside the certain waste storage plant following the waste drum transportation process was analyzed, and further solution was provided based on the calculation result. Reference was provided for relevant high-radioactive waste process facilities. (authors)
