The paper concerns the use of ultrasonics in non-destructive testing (NDT), especially in the nuclear industry. The use of ultrasonic methods in searching for dangerous flaws, manual and automated scanning techniques, how ultrasonics spots a hidden defect, the performance of ultrasonic NDT, and safeguards in the nuclear industry, are all briefly discussed.
