Development of vertical electro-polishing technique for Nb superconducting RF cavity

Description
Marui Galvanizing Co., Ltd. has been developing vertical electro-polishing (VEP) technique for Nb superconducting RF cavities in collaboration with KEK for the last three years. In this term, we have developed our original cathode 'i-cathode Ninja'®, and individual VEP facilities for single cell and nine cell cavities. Several VEP experiments have been performed for parameter investigation so as to get smooth and uniform surface of a Nb cavity. In this article, we present some of the results of VEP of a single cell coupon cavity and a nine cell cavity. (author)
