Synchrotron radiation and x-ray small angle scattering and diffraction from macromolecules

Description
Problems associated with X-ray scattering and diffraction experiments with assemblies of macromolecules (e.g. proteins in solution, polymers, fibres) are discussed. Properties of a 60 kW conventional X-ray source are compared with those of synchrotron radiation. Types of cameras used in synchrotron radiation are compared. Experiments that could be done on a synchrotron radiation facility with macromolecules that cannot be crystallized are outlined. (U.K.)
