Calculation equations for capacity of baffled settler
Description
The baffled settler, composed of many tilted plates which are installed in a simple settling chamber, can decrease the solvent inventory of the unit considerably. The capacity of this settler is influenced by many parameters, such a the coefficient and exponent for the empirical equation of dispersion phase separation; the liquid depth of settling chamber; the viscosity and density of two liquid phases; phase ratio of dispersion; the thickness, length, width, inclination angle and number of baffles; and the area utilization ratio of settling chamber, etc. Two models are presented, from which two calculation equations correlating all the above parameters are derived respectively, and the reliability of them are discussed
