The decay of sup(131g)Te and sup(131m)Te to 131I levels

  • 1. Ain Shams Univ., Cairo (Egypt)

Description

Gamma ray spectra associated with the decays of sup(131g)Te and sup(131m)Te have been studied with Ge/Li/ and Ge/Li/-NaI/Tl/ spectrometers. The radioactive source was produced by irradiation of enriched 130Te target by thermal neutron flux. Singles and coincidence spectra were recorded and gamma-gamma angular correlations were measured. On the basis of the 78 gamma-ray transitions observed in the singles spectra and with the results of the coincidence measurements a level scheme was proposed for the 131I nucleus. A new level at 1854 keV energy was found. The most probable spins and parities, values of mixing parameters and multipolarities of gamma-rays were determined from the gamma-gamma directional correlation measurements and log ft values.
