Track registration detector: convection chamber with atmospheric air cooling

Description
A track registration detector with a sensitive volume formed by a convection transfer of working liquid vapor to the region with lower temperature is described. The chamber is of a simple design and easy to operate. Lighting and a necessary temperature gradient in the convection chamber are provided by the consecutively connected glow lamps. The chamber base is cooled by the atmospheric air. The chamber can be used in detection of charged particle tracks in the air and it is ideal for educational purposes: it allows one to visualize charged particle tracks. (author). 13 refs., 2 figs
