Emerging nuclear energy systems concepts
Description
The basic nuclear and isotopic features of several emerging nuclear energy systems concepts are presented. It is shown that one characteristic of these systems is the integrated utilization of various complementary nuclear reactions so as to sustain a more efficient thermal fission economy. Although some scientific re-orientation is required for the attainment of these new energy options, much of the existing nuclear technology can continue to be utilized. This new nuclear energy systems synthesis can thus be viewed as offering an expanded and permanent nuclear energy base. (author)
