Some theoretical aspects of diffusion in cylindrical plasmas

Description

In this preliminary report some theoretical aspects of diffusion in rotationally symmetric cylindrical plasma columns are considered. Both boundary value and initial value problems are solved in principle. Also the effect of a radially inward pinch velocity has been incorporated. The main aim was to derive rigorous solutions with which approximate solutions can be compared that have been obtained by using physically plausible assumptions. The derivations given in this report can also be used for similar problems concerning the conduction of heat. (author)
