Modulation of γ- and X-rays by ultrasonic vibrations in crystals

  • 1. AN Armyanskoj SSR, Erevan

Description

The oscillating time dependence of the γ- or X-ray diffracted beam intensity induced by piezoelectric crystal vibrations has been studied. To find the intensities of the scattered and transmitted beams, Takagi's equations are used and solved numerically. The time dependence of diffracted beam intensity and the intensity dependence on ultrasound wave amplitude are plotted and discussed. The intensity has an oscillating character and the number of beats in one period increases with the increase of vibration amplitude
