Monte Carlo simulation of dose profiles : from beam scanner of 750 keV D.C. accelerator

  • 1. IMA Section, Center for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)

Description

Electron beam coming out from accelerator window of high power (20 kW) and low energy (750 keV) D.C. accelerator is of the size 10 mm in diameter, which can not be used directly for irradiation of industrial goods e.g. cellulose pulp sheets, wire and cable etc. The wide radiation field, suitable for irradiation is achieved by scanning the 10 mm dia beam in side the scanning chamber. In present work a scanning electron beam with various scanning angle has been simulated using MCNP code and various data related to the fractional energy distribution has been generated. Central axis depth dose curve and dose profiles in a plane along the scanning direction and its perpendicular direction (in unit density material) are presented. (author)
