Nuclear power plant

Description

Purpose: To improve the corrosion resistance in nuclear reactor inner structures, nuclear reactor inner equipments and primary pipeways by using material composed of high chromium and high nickel stainless steels applied with surface treatment for the improvement of the corrosion resistance. Constitution: Inner reactor structures, inner reactor equipments and primary circuit pipeways are entirely or partially made of austenite type stainless steels of excellent corrosion resistance comprising from 20 to 27% of chromium, from 1 to 6% of molybdenum, from 13 to 24% of nickel by weight and the balance of iron and additional impurity elements. The austenite type stainless steels used herein are applied with surface treatment for the improvement of the corrosion resistance. This can reduce Co leached out from the equipments and primary circuit pipeways to about 1/10 - 1/100 thereby remarkably reducing the occurrence of Co in the nuclear reactor primary circuits.
