Description
The effect of various diluents such as n-hexane, n-heptane n-octane, iso-octane, n-decane, n-undecane, n-dodecane, n-tetradecane and n-hexadecane and toluene on the extraction of uranyl nitrate by Tri-n-amyl phosphate (TAP) over the temperature range 10 degC - 60 degC, were studied. The results indicated that the enthalpy of extraction does not vary significantly with the diluent in the type studied and also does not have any correlation with the solubility parameter of the diluent. The results also indicate a curvature in the enthalpy change within the temperature range 10 degC to 60 degC. (author). 5 refs., 1 tab
