The polarization potential for intermediate - energy electron-atom scattering
Description
The adiabatic approximation to the effective electron-atom potential gives an asymptotic form αr-4, where α is the static polarizability. At intermediate and high energies, where this approximation is invalid, it is shown that α is replaced by an oscillatory, energy-dependent coefficient
