Description
New ZrMn6Sn6-xInx intermetallics with x up to 0.8 have been synthesized and studied by magnetization and neutron diffraction experiments. All alloys are isotypic with HfFe6Ge6 (P6/mmm) with a cell volume increasing upon In for Sn substitution. In contrast to previous findings concerning other RMn6Sn6-xX'x alloys (X' = Ga or In), the metalloid substitution does not allow stabilizing a ferromagnetic order: all ZrMn6Sn6-xInx behave antiferromagnetically (540 K ≤ TN ≤ 560 K). For the first time in the RMn6Sn6-xX'x family, the collinear antiferromagnetic arrangement (AF2) is observed in the whole ordered temperature range for the richest In alloys.
