Development and application of a new in situ emissions / online / offline Mössbauer magnet analyzer at ISOLDE (CERN) for hysteresis design in innovative magnetic materials for the energy transition - eMMA. Final report
Description
The main goal of the project was to build an improved infrastructure at ISOLDE/CERN for the development and improvement of materials for the energy transition. The initial focus was on magnetic materials, for example for energy conversion. The scientific question focuses on new materials, especially from nanotechnology, for applications in energy technology. The technical problem was to build a Mössbauer apparatus that significantly expands and improves such investigations with the probes available at ISOLDE. The infrastructure at ISOLDE should include a powerful online/offline Mössbauer apparatus. This device will enable the widest possible range of Mössbauer spectroscopy isotopes to be used for direct research into magnetic materials for energy technology, along with additional experimental options. The atomic and enormous sensitivity of Mössbauer spectroscopy with respect to magnetic properties makes it a very versatile method to understand the nanoscale effects on magnetic materials, and so it can help in the development of the urgently needed novel magnets. Currently, such magnetic measurements in higher fields and in defined hysteresis states at defined temperatures are not possible. The new setup will include a high-field magnet with rapid field variation close to the sample, a heater and a sample manipulator, which will make a decisive contribution to identifying the atomic and nanoscale effects that cause the macroscopic magnetic properties of the new magnets. This then enabled the development and production of innovative magnetic materials that are urgently needed for the energy transition. The new instrumentation for ISOLDE is an example of a highly topical scientific question in the field of new materials, including nanomaterials, and energy. This directly leads to numerous subsequent applications, particularly in the fields of energy research and materials science.

Derzeit sind solche magnetischen Messungen in h#Latin Small Letter O With Diaeresis#heren Feldern und in definierten Hysteresezust#Latin Small Letter A With Diaeresis#nden bei definierten Temperaturen nicht m#Latin Small Letter O With Diaeresis#glich. Additional details
