Measurement of 14C in environmental samples collected in Kyushu using simple analytical method

Description
Simple measurement technique of environmental 14C was developed. Samples are prepared by gel suspension method, which is much simpler than conventional method such as benzene synthesis method. We applied this method to the actual environmental samples, rice harvested in Fukuoka Prefecture and fir tree trunk collected in Miyazaki Prefecture. Specific activity obtained by counting of these samples were reasonable compared with the data obtained by other researchers, therefore it was shown that this newly developed method was useful for the environmental monitoring.
