Description
At 1 AU the passage of interplanetary shock waves is associated with long time constant increases of intensity of low energy protons called Energetic Storm Particle (ESP) events. While the pre-shock passage increases are characteristic, the intensity decay after the passage of the shock can show considerable variations. The variations can be related to interplanetary plasma and field conditions
