Superconducting magnet systems for plasma physics research in the USSR

Description
The application of superconducting magnet systems (SMS) for current plasma physics in research institutions for controlled thermonuclear reaction is creating good conditions for experimental research. The next step in the program of magnetic confinement towards an experimental fusion reactor is practically impossible without SMS. Experience with the design, construction testing and operation of SMS for mirror and tokamak type installations (LIN-5, LIN-5B, T-7) and the conceptual design of SMS for the T-10 M tokamak are presented.
