The modified agreement: A remedy for an ailing industry?

With domestic uranium production satisfying less than 10% of U.S. reactor demand in 1993, one would be hard-pressed not to think that U.S. producers could use a good shot in the arm to get production back to the levels of the 1970's, when production actually exceeded reactor demand. The modified Suspension Agreement signed on March 11, 1994 between the Russian Federation and the United States has turned out to be a series of attempts of preventing price suppression of U.S. produced uranium while simultaneously stimulating U.S. production.
