Planetary rings
Description
This paper is an abstract of two lectures given respectively by Peter Goldreich and myself. Some of the observations of Voyager spacecrafts have been included. Planetary rings should deserve in themselves a whole book and one will be published after an international conference which will be held in France in September 1982. Here only a short summary of our knowledge on rings is given and the main observational results and the dynamical problems which are of interest for cosmogonical questions are emphasized. This paper can only be considered as an introduction to the subjects. Only the main outlines and some references are given here
