Increase in efficiency of vacuum heat treatment

Description

Presented are the results of the application of a recirculating inert gas flux to the forcing of the cooling of an experimental vacuum electric heat treatment installation. Determined are the cooling rate in vacuum, argon, helium; hardenability of some steels (12Kh18N10T, 14Kh17N2); the surface roughness of articles, and gas expenditure. A forced cooling of the charge with helium increases the hardening rate almost sevenfold, which gives rise to the hardenability of steels. An inert gas is used repeatedly and is kept in a receiver. A way of predicting steel hardenability at a bright hardening in vacuum is proposed
