Seasonal variation of radon and its daughter concentrations in dwellings

  • 1. Aligarh Muslim Univ. (India). Z.H. Coll. of Engineering and Technology

Description

Monthly and seasonal variation of radon and its daughter concentrations were measured in thirty eight rooms of seven dwellings in India. CR-39 nuclear track detector was used to measure the radon concentration. The mean radon concentrations for three different seasons winter, summer and rainy were 2.07 ± 0.2, 1.25 ± 0.2 and 1.75 ± 0.2 pCi/l respectively. The average dose equivalent rate due to radon daughters for a person is 0.29 WLM/yr for an equilibrium factor of 0.43 and an occupancy factor of 0.8. (author)
